07/21/2003 – The Image of the Week was submitted by Dr. Scott Tebbutt. The following image shows an example of a genotyping microarray ("SNiP Chip"), showing an individual person's genetic variation across hundreds of markers scattered throughout the genome. The different spot colours indicate the different DNA bases (A, C, G, T - or a combination), whilst the specific spot position within the array indicates a particular genetic marker.
